Award Guidelines:
The purpose of the program is to offer financial aid to deserving student skimmers wishing to continue their education beyond the secondary school level. The grants are awarded based on academics and citizenship rather than athletic ability. A detailed application and letters of recommendation are the major criteria for the selection committee, and while there are no application fees involved, applicants must be Skim USA members in good standing. The Skim USA Association, the largest amateur skimboarding organization in the world, is a nonprofit, IRS tax-exempt corporation.
Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:
1. You must be a current member in good standing with Skim USA Association.
2. When filling out theapplication, print in ink or submit typewritten, however typewritten applications are preferred.
3. No application will be considered without an official transcript. You should request your school(s) to send an official transcript to the address below. Be certain to make your request in a timely fashion, to allow your school time to process and send the transcript to the Skim USA before the _April 30, 2007_ deadline.
4. Submit a letter of recommendation along with your application. The letter should be from someone who is not a member of your family.
5. Submit a short, no more than 500 word, typewritten letter to the Scholarship Committee detailing your future goals and how your choice of education institutions will help you reach these goals.
6. Application and all other pertinent information must be returned to the Scholarship Committee by _April 30, 2007. The application, along with the additional information you attached, will be used to determine your eligibility for a Skim USA Scholarship Grant. The Scholarship Committee will make a determination for awards no later than May 30, 2007 and recipients will be notified in writing by June 10, 2007.
